We must act now!

A chance to stand up for your fellow New Yorkers

CommanderHistorically, the Salvation Army has been synonymous with feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless and providing support for the impoverished.

As one of New York’s major social services providers, we have witnessed the human toll of the recession firsthand.

Every day, we serve men and women who struggled to survive before the economic downturn and have now plummeted into severe poverty.

While other organizations may cut back on services to weather the storm, we are committed to continuing the Salvation Army’s tradition of stepping up to the plate when times are tough.

By faith and through generous donations, we are getting the job done. Yet the crisis has created deep cracks in the social foundation and fabric of New York’s strength. We know we must do even more to relieve this great suffering.

The Salvation Army’s Stand Together Campaign is an answer. Achieving the $100 million goal for this ambitious three-year effort would have an extraordinary impact on the availability of social services in New York.

Imagine the difference $20 million of additional hunger relief funds, or $15 million for rent and utility assistance would make? Imagine what the remaining funds dispersed among our other services areas would accomplish?

This campaign represents a chance to come together to heal and pave the way for a brighter future. It is my deepest hope that you will accept our invitation to stand with the Salvation Army on behalf of the Greater New York community and your fellow New Yorkers

Sincerely,
